The BMW X5 Plug-in Hybrid boasts a robust, traditional SUV stance, thanks to its tall proportions, upright nose, wide track, and strong shoulder line. However, BMW's contemporary design language adds a sleek twist with slimmer headlights, sculpted surfaces, and aerodynamic detailing around the bumpers and air curtains. This fusion of old and new creates a unique and appealing aesthetic.
BMW has intentionally kept the visual differences between the Plug-in Hybrid and the regular X5 subtle, aiming to make the electrified powertrain feel seamlessly integrated. Subtle cues like blue-accented roundels, a charging flap, and model-specific badging hint at its hybrid nature.

The adjustable headrests add to the overall comfort, and these features are definitely worth retaining in the next-gen model.
The cabin's carbon-fiber trim on the dash and center console adds a sporty touch. However, some elements feel due for an update. The steering wheel, for instance, looks slightly outdated compared to newer BMW designs, and an upgrade to something akin to the iX3's next-generation wheel would be a welcome change.
The center console currently offers only a USB port and a small storage box, but a wireless charging pad should be a standard feature in the upcoming model. The heated and cooled cupholders are definitely features worth carrying over, adding a touch of luxury.
