Harpal's career began with a practical choice, driven by the need for immediate employment. Little did he know that this decision would ignite a lifelong love affair with cooking.
Growing up in a town where career options were limited to engineering, medicine, or civil service, hospitality was an unheard-of path. "It was taken as a halwai profession rather than a management profession," he recalls. But Harpal dared to be different, becoming one of the first in Kharagpur to pursue hotel management.
"I went to IHM with employment in mind, not as a career option," he explains. However, within three months, his perspective shifted. The love for cooking slowly crept in, and he found himself immersed in the world of culinary arts.
From that moment on, Harpal dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his newfound passion. He embarked on a journey of self-improvement, honing the skills necessary to become an exceptional chef. And then, television entered the picture, adding a new dimension to his career.
Despite his initial shyness, Harpal embraced the camera, discovering a unique connection. "I love being in front of the camera. I love talking to it. I realized the importance of speaking up, being a good trainer, and a confident speaker," he shares.
Today, after gracing both fiction and culinary shows, Harpal finds energy and enjoyment in the on-screen world. "It's a different realm, but it's one I thoroughly relish," he says, referring to his appearance on the TV show Laughter Chef.
