Hexorcist – Crucificial Imprecations: Satanic Death Metal Review (2026)

Hexorcist's sophomore album, Crucificial Imprecations, is a thrilling journey through the depths of death metal, with a distinct Florida twist. The album's opening track, 'Crucifical Imprecations', sets the tone with a symphony of darkness, reminiscent of old horror films, before launching into a relentless assault of thrash and death. The band's vocalist, Mors Ululatus, embodies pure, unadulterated hatred for Jesus, with lyrics and instrumentals that evoke the era of the Satanic Panic. This album is a testament to the band's skill and dedication, drawing inspiration from the giants of the genre, such as Angelcorpse and Monstrosity. The album's production quality is top-notch, with thick bass lines and violent, relentless drumming that create a sense of urgency and terror. The guitar work, particularly by Maleferious, is technical and acrobatic, with solos that suffer Deathly convulsions, adding to the album's overall intensity. The album's pacing, however, is a double-edged sword. While the band maintains laser focus throughout, the intensity and consistency can become monotonous, especially on the back half of the album. The album's short length of 30 minutes doesn't help, as the lack of variety in track structure and vocal delivery makes it a tougher listen than expected. Despite this, Hexorcist's Crucificial Imprecations is a killer death/thrash album that gets my blood pumping, making it a great choice for working, driving, or running errands. However, it's not an album I'll be returning to as a whole, as the album's one-trick pony approach may leave listeners wanting more variety. Overall, the album receives a rating of 2.5/5.0, with a strong emphasis on the band's skill and dedication to the genre, but a slight letdown in terms of variety and pacing. The album is available worldwide on July 31st, 2026, through Invictus Productions, and can be streamed on Bandcamp and Facebook.
