JAMB has extended the 2025 public university admissions deadline to November 17, 2025, citing emergent and compelling circumstances affecting several public universities. This decision, made by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), aims to ensure fairness and inclusiveness across institutions. The initial deadline was set by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, as October 31, 2025, to allow other tiers of tertiary institutions, including private universities, to conclude admissions before the overall closing date of December 31, 2025. The extension is due to disruptions caused by court orders and the introduction of new academic programs approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). JAMB has expressed appreciation for the efforts and cooperation of institutions in meeting the initial target date but has emphasized that the new deadline is final and must be strictly adhered to. The board remains committed to maintaining a credible and transparent admission process that supports Nigeria's education goals while upholding institutional autonomy.
