The couple had purchased the 1970s property in 2016, drawn to its unique 'bush Australiana' charm and the potential for a family retreat. With their young family growing, they embarked on a significant renovation project, transforming the three-bedroom home into a spacious six-bedroom, four-bathroom 'ranch' style residence, complete with a tennis court and swimming pool. However, the renovation process proved challenging, and they eventually decided to list the property on Airbnb, allowing them to maintain some control over their investment while their family expanded. In 2024, with the help of builder Dale Cheeseman, the couple completed a rapid renovation, giving the mid-century brick home a modern makeover with Patagonia stone, smokey grey oak floors, and an open-plan living and dining area. They also added a wood fire heater and an integrated fridge/freezer in the kitchen. Despite the successful renovation, the couple's asking price was not met, and the property sold for $2.78 million, $220,000 below the top end of their price guide and $60,000 below the bottom. This outcome raises questions about the impact of the renovation on the property's value and the couple's future plans for their real estate investments.
