Terps in the NBA: Week 10 Update
COLLEGE PARK, MD--As we wrap up the tenth week of the NBA season, it's time to take a closer look at how Maryland's professional basketball players are performing. Representing the Terps this season are Derik Queen with the New Orleans Pelicans, Kevin Huerter and Jalen Smith from the Chicago Bulls, Aaron Wiggins playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Jahmir Young with both the Miami Heat and the Sioux Falls Skyforce, as well as Julian Reese with Raptors 905.
Derik Queen (New Orleans Pelicans)
- Currently, Queen is having an impressive rookie season, averaging 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists after ten weeks.
- The Baltimore native holds a respectable position among his peers, ranking within the top 40 for both shooting percentage at 51.0% and rebounds per game with an average of 7.0.
- In his most recent performances, Queen has stepped up significantly, scoring an average of 17.0 points in his last four games, which includes standout games of 21 points each against Cleveland on December 23 and Phoenix on December 27.
When it comes to rookie statistics this season, Derik Queen leads in several key areas:

Kevin Huerter (Chicago Bulls)
- Starting the 2025-26 season, Huerter is averaging 11.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
- He showcased his skills on December 21 against Atlanta, where he scored 16 points and provided five assists during just 21 minutes of play.

Jalen Smith (Chicago Bulls)
- As the year draws to a close, Smith’s averages stand at 8.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
- In a recent match against the 76ers on December 26, he contributed significantly with 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and one block, helping secure a victory for his team.
- Notably, Smith has recorded five or more rebounds in five out of his last eight games.

Aaron Wiggins (Oklahoma City Thunder)
- Wiggins has been making strides with a three-point shooting percentage of 41.1%, placing him 33rd in the league.
- After ten weeks into the season, he is averaging 11.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
- On December 28, Wiggins had a strong outing against the 76ers, scoring 15 points, along with contributing three rebounds and three assists.
Jahmir Young (Miami Heat/Skioux Falls Skyforce)
- In the G-League, Young is truly shining, averaging an impressive 22.8 points, 7.7 assists, and 6.0 rebounds while playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
- His performance on December 27 against the San Diego Clippers was noteworthy, as he logged 22 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.
Julian Reese (Raptors 905)
- Reese is currently posting averages of 4.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game this season.
- Recently, on December 16, he had a commendable performance with 10 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.
