The World Peace Program, a three-day initiative, has commenced in Lumbini, with a focus on fostering global harmony and enlightenment. The event, inaugurated by the Acting Mayor of Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality, Kalpana Harijan, and Nikesh Adhikari, the chairperson of The Promise Land, aims to introduce Buddhist education in the region's community schools. The program's opening day featured a captivating conversation between former Ethiopian Prime Minister Tamrat Layne and Sudhamshu Dahal, delving into spiritual transformation, leadership, and the pursuit of world peace. Tamrat emphasized the shared aspiration for peace among participants from diverse nations. LP Bhanu Sharma of the Jeevan Vigyan presented on meditation, highlighting Nepal's ancient spiritual heritage spanning 10,000 years. The event also showcased keynotes by actor Rajesh Hamal and Susan Zhu, CEO of Treasure Carbon Group, who discussed the importance of inner wealth and the ability to smile, contrasting societal conflicts with the fleeting nature of conflicts in films. Sagar Bhante, a prominent figure, introduced the concept of 'two Lumbinis within Lumbini,' emphasizing the need to uplift residents beyond the Lumbini Development Trust area. The program, attracting 25 billionaires, brings together leaders, scholars, cultural ambassadors, business figures, artists, youth, and community representatives from around the world. Over the three days, discussions will cover peace, climate change, development, inner well-being, and social justice. The event will also feature cultural exhibitions, music, and artistic performances, with a special emphasis on youth, women, Indigenous communities, and marginalized voices in local governance.
